Dr. Fangtian Zhong (钟方天)

Dr. Fangtian Zhong's research focuses on Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Program Analysis, and AI/ML for Software Security. He enjoys developing statistically and mathematically elegant solutions to software security challenges across various architectures, with a particular focus on native code analysis without source access.

Biography & Background

Dr. Fangtian Zhong is currently a faculty member at Shandong University (山东大学). Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor at Montana State University (U.S.) from 2023 to 2026. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from The George Washington University in 2021, advised by Dr. Xiuzhen Cheng. From 2021 to 2023, he worked as a postdoctoral scholar at The Pennsylvania State University and the University of Notre Dame.

He has published two ESI 1% highly cited papers and received the Best Paper Award at IEEE CARS 2024 and Best Poster Award at IEEE S&P 2025. Additionally, he serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Network and Service Management (TNSM) and IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics (TII).
